Year 8 Krakow Trip

12th April 2019

At the very end of the Spring Term, twelve Year 8 pupils, Mr Murdock and Mr Hughes visited Krakow, Poland. They went to Auschwitz, Oskar Schindler’s Factory and the salt mines. Auschwitz was an incredible experience for our students. It was certainly an eye-opener to what happened there during the Second World War. Schindler’s Factory showed us how one German successfully saved over a 1,000 Jewish lives and because of this how near he came to being arrested himself. The Salt Mine was a fantastic journey underground to see the magnificent sculptures that are etched out of the salt. The masterpiece was the small cathedral in the mine with its beautiful carvings of some biblical stories.
