Careers

Danes Hill School offers an exceptional working environment. Set in 55 acres bordering open countryside in Oxshott village in Surrey, yet just 20 miles from London Waterloo, it is a thriving Nursery, Pre-prep and Prep School which has received an outstanding report by the Independent School’s Inspectorate. Inspectors described the school as ‘excellent in all areas’ and commented that ‘teamwork is strong’. They also noted that ‘relationships between pupils and staff, and amongst the pupils, are consistently outstanding’. We feel these comments accurately reflect the school and are indeed key to making it such a great place to work.

Many of our staff come from the surrounding towns and villages including Cobham, Leatherhead, Esher and Epsom, and others come from further afield in Surrey and South London. Working at Danes Hill you become part of a dynamic community encompassing all the teaching and non-teaching staff. Dedicated support staff work in tandem with teaching staff, taking care of many of the administrative tasks in a friendly, cooperative environment. The Common Room President, elected each year, organises social events and charity fundraisers. Several members of staff offer their expertise free of charge to run different activities, including circuit training and the staff choir. You are also able to make use of the swimming pool and other sports facilities, before and after school, helping to burn off our renowned lunches!

Danes Hill has its own salary scale, which includes fringe weighting and full NQT induction is available. Staff also benefit from being part of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

Teaching Assistant (early years)

Are you fun? Smart? Playful? Happy? Silly? Kind? Knowledgeable? Joyful?

These are the qualities that the pupils at Bevendean, the Danes Hill pre-prep, have told us that they are looking for in the adults who support them. If this list sounds like you, please apply for our Teaching Assistant role, starting in November.

As well as those important qualities, we are looking for the ability to work effectively with a teaching team, and to contribute to high quality teaching and learning. We expect our Teaching Assistants to have NNEB or Teaching Assistant qualifications at level 3, alongside experience of working with young people in a school or nursery environment. We are looking for a new permanent member of staff to join the team.

Bevendean is a wonderful pre-prep environment, where children appreciate the creative energy, pastoral care and topic based learning. Pupils range from 2.5 to 6 years old, and all bring a curiosity and enthusiasm for learning that is fantastic to respond to.

We encourage applications without delay – we will process applications as they are received, and may interview applicants ahead of the closing date (Monday 25 September 2023).
