At Danes Hill School we want your children to do well academically, but we also want them to love their childhood. It is very precious, and you only get one shot at it. If they are happy, they will work harder and inevitably do better academically.
Our Prep School is located in the heart of Oxshott village in Surrey. Children attend the prep school from Year 2 up to Year 8. Children in younger years, Nursery, Reception and Year 1 attend our Pre-Prep which is just a short walk half a mile away.
Danes Hill School is proud to be one of the largest prep schools in Surrey. This means we can invest in state-of-the-art facilities as well as exceptional teachers who specialise in their field. To ensure every child is known and nurtured the Prep School is split into two areas – Junior School (Year 2, Year 3 Year 4 and Year 5) and Upper School (Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8). Each area of the school is under the care of two passionate Heads of Section who ensure individual needs are met and unique passions are pursued.
A handful of our pupils move to their senior schools at the end of Year 6 but the majority of our pupils stay at Danes Hill until the end of Year 8. Time is the greatest gift we can provide our children. By allowing children two more years to develop socially and academically before joining their Senior School, our pupils will have had the chance to try new interests and develop lifelong skills in the relative safety and comfort of a prep school. Giving pupils the confidence to take risks and not be afraid to make mistakes, in a nurturing environment, will ensure they have developed and practised the social skills they require for Senior School and the world beyond.
