Valentine’s Gifts

14th February 2019

Year 3 children have been working all week on a Valentine’s art project to take home for their family or friends. The celebration of Valentine’s day originated as a Western Christian feast day honouring one or two early saints named Valentinus, Valentine’s Day is recognised as a significant celebration of romance. Using clay for the first time, the children moulded the shape of a heart and then filled the centre with roles of clay described by the Year 3’s as snail shells. The class painted their hearts in pink, red and purple. Their recent study of the colour wheel came in handy as they were able to create different shades of colours adding drops of white and black. Some beautiful artwork has been made by our Year 3 pupils and what a lovely gift to take home.
