Year 3 children have been working all week on a Valentines art project to take home for their family or friends. The celebration of Valentines day originated as a Western Christian feast day honouring one or two early saints named Valentinus, Valentines Day is recognised as a significant celebration of romance. Using clay for the first time, the children moulded the shape of a heart and then filled the centre with roles of clay described by the Year 3s as snail shells. The class painted their hearts in pink, red and purple. Their recent study of the colour wheel came in handy as they were able to create different shades of colours adding drops of white and black. Some beautiful artwork has been made by our Year 3 pupils and what a lovely gift to take home.
