On Monday 4 November, girls sport were delighted to host a day of Masterclass sessions for the girls.
In the morning, Years 7 and 8 were treated to Ben Edwards, Director of Sport at Reeds School. Ben delivered a masterclass session on defending for the girls, who enjoyed being able to put the skills into practice in a match-play scenario at the end of the session.
There were a number of challenges posed to the girls throughout the morning in a fantastic session that will help to prepare them for their respective National Finals over the next fortnight.
The Girls Sport department would like to extend a massive thank-you to Ben Edwards and Reeds School for coming in to teach the girls.
In the afternoon, Year 3 and 4 Girls were treated to a visit from 3 Great Britain Hockey stars as part of their Games lessons. James Gall, Tom Sorsby and Zach Wallace came in alongside Surbitons Director of Junior Coaching Will Fulker to give the girls a specialist skills session alongside a Q&A opportunity. With all 3 players having competed in the Olympic Qualifiers for Great Britain at the weekend, the girls had the opportunity to learn from the very best around about their International careers and opportunities to play in the junior section at Surbiton Hockey Club.
The girls were able to practice their skills alongside the Great Britain internationals in addition to watching a fantastic demonstration of some of their skills.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and the girls sport department would like to thank Surbiton Hockey Club as well as James, Tom and Zach for giving up their time to come and see the girls.
