On Tuesday 26 February, the U12 Girls Hockey Team travelled to Reigate Grammar School to compete in the Surrey Championships.
With 10 teams competing, Danes Hill faced a tough 4 games in the pool with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals.
Danes Hill opened the tournament by beating Hinchley Wood 4-0 and Streatham & Clapham High School 4-1. The girls then faced a tough Reigate Grammar team in which a closely fought contest ended with a 0-0 draw. In the final group game, Danes Hill beat James Allen’s Girls’ School 4-0 to win the group and qualify for the final four.
In the semi-final the girls faced a difficult Epsom College side but played their best hockey of the day to win 3-1.
In the final, a fantastic display of disciplined and attacking hockey resulted in the girls beating Alleyns 4-2 to win the tournament and qualify for the Regional Competition.
Congratulations to all of the girls for a fantastic day and their well-deserved Gold medals.
