Senior boys hockey teams and senior girls netball teams were lucky enough to enjoy specialised coaching sessions with players for their respective sports.
The netball teams were coached by Tallisa Haynes, a Surrey Storm wing defender, and Claire Yeoman, a high level netball coach, both from St. Georges School. As well as working on their netball skills with Tallisa and Claire, the girls had a question and answer session with the coaches.
The hockey teams worked on a range of dribbling and passing skills coached by Mike Williamson, a former hockey international from Reeds School, whilst three prospective goalkeepers worked exclusively with a goalkeeping coach. The boys put their skills into practice in a game situation towards the end of the session. With such a short hockey season, it was fantastic to be able to see the boys in action in advance of selecting our squad for IAPS.
Well done and thank you to the students for working hard and making the most of this opportunity, and many thanks to the coaches for their sharing their skills. We hope to be able to hold a few more sessions in the coming weeks!
