Budding Danes Hill linguists visited the International School of London to get some exposure to a range of the world’s most common foreign languages.

The students received taster sessions in Mandarin, French and Spanish, focusing on different grammatical elements of each language. Each child was buddied up with a student from ISL whose mother tongue was not English and this gave them the opportunity to learn more about the cultural aspects of each of the different languages.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile visit which has certainly enabled the Danes Hill pupils to start thinking in more depth about different languages. By way of thanks, the Danes Hill linguists presented their hosts with personalized ceramic tiles.

Susan Stewart, the Head of Languages at ISL, said ‘It was such a pleasure to have your students with us last week.  There were indeed very inquisitive linguists who were a delight to work with.’
