Charterhouse Prep School Football Tournament

9th October 2018

On Monday the U10A football team played in the Charterhouse Prep Schools Football Tournament. There were 21 schools split across 4 groups. Danes Hill made hard work of the first game but managed to come away with a 1-0 victory vs Hall Grove. In the second game we played some excellent football and were more clinical in front of goal, beating Hoebridge 5-0. Next came Edgeborough, who were a big, physical side and disrupted our passing football, holding us to a 0-0 draw. Game 4 was against Westbourne House who we beat 5-0, followed by a 3-0 win over Milbourne Lodge. This meant we finished top of our group, qualifying for the Cup Quarter-Final where we played Arnold House. This was a close affair with both teams playing very attacking football, but Danes Hill held on to win 2-1. In the Semi-Final we played Rokeby. Danes Hill dominated the game, keeping the ball well and creating several chances but could not score. The game went to ‘Golden Goal Extra Time’ and with seconds left on the clock Danes Hill scored to make the Cup Final. In the final the boys played Papplewick who were a very good team. They scored two quick goals in the first half but Danes Hill fought back in the second half drawing it 1-1, losing the final 3-1. This was a great achievement for the boys and I was very proud of their performances. Well done!
