UKSA Annual Hockey Tournament

13th March 2019

On Wednesday 6 March the U10A hockey team played at The Triangle, Burgess Hill, in the UKSA annual hockey tournament. This was a great opportunity for the boys to play hockey and to play against schools not on our usual circuit. Considering the lack of practice we had prior to the tournament the boys started quickly with a strong 2-0 win over Bede’s. Next we played Saint Ronan’s who were well organised, beating us 3-0. The boys found their form again winning there next 3 games 2-0, 1-0 and 2-1 putting us in 1st position going into the final round of matches. We started quickly against Hurst Prep, creating 2 scoring opportunities but rushed our efforts. Halfway through the match we scored on the break, putting us 1-0 up. We continued to dominate possession but could not create another scoring opportunity. Hurst Prep managed to get a short corner with 10 seconds left and scored with a set play on the buzzer. This was unfortunate for the boys, as they had played some superb hockey throughout the afternoon and were so close to winning the competition. Well done!
