Girls Athletics

12th September 2018

There has been many athletics fixtures for the girls this half term with lots of team and individual success.

The Year 7 & 8 RGS athletics competition was a fantastic opportunity for many girls to compete in numerous events at the start of the athletics season. Girls from Years 4 to 8 also competed in two Guildford High School track and field events at Guildford Spectrum with great individual success. Danes Hill also organised an A and B athletics relay competition for the U10-U13 age groups. The U10 A and B teams and the U11 B team achieved a superb 1st place, with Danes Hill also winning the overall competition points award. The Year 7 and 8 girls also took part in the District Athletics Competition. A special mention to G Butler who achieved 1st place in the Year 7 100m and Z Lawrence who achieved 3rd place in the 100m and 200m and 1st place in the Long jump. Z Lawrence also received a place to represent the district schools in the Surrey Schools Championships.

Most recently, the senior girls competed in athletics at the Hawthorns Schools. Congratulations to all of the girls on their great performances and for competing in many different events.

Overall so far, the girls have shown great commitment and determination in athletics. We look forward to the IAPS qualifiers in Eton and we hope to get a number of girls qualify for the IAPS National Championships at the end of the term in Birmingham. Good luck to all the girls in our upcoming events.
