The Big Draw 2018

13th August 2018

On Thursday 8 March, the Art Department invited the Middle School and their parents, to celebrate and support, the Big Draw. The Big Draw was established in 2000 and is now the world’s largest drawing festival. With Mr Taylor, participants were encouraged to draw around their hands in a way that made them look 3Dimensional. The continuous line drawing was surprisingly therapeutic and the end result is an impressive 10 metre long piece of artwork. Blessed with the sunshine Miss Bartlett was able to draw and paint the beautiful Danes Hill landscape out on the balcony of L12. Additionally, Miss Reeves organised an art trail where pupils were challenged to locate eight totem poles around the school. The art trail ends on Thursday 15 March, so there is plenty of time to submit your entry to your form teacher with the chance of winning a prize. Mrs Weston ran an amazing stop motion animation workshop using the iPads. This was a great opportunity for the pupils to utilise many skills regarding new and advancing technology as well as having lots of fun in the process. The event ended with a fantastic raffle, a beautiful cake was presented for first prize from Cobham Cakes, wonderful art packs were awarded also. A big thank you to all parents for your kind generosity in helping us raise £296 for the Leatherhead Youth Project. The message from the art department is ‘Keep on Drawing’.
