Danes Hill launches 1-to-1 device scheme to enhance learning

9th May 2023

Danes Hill School is excited to announce the launch of its 1-to-1 Digital Device Scheme for Year 5 and Year 7 pupils for the 2023/24 school year. The programme is part of the school’s digital transformation journey, aimed at equipping pupils with the necessary skills to succeed in a modern, digital world.

The 1-to-1 Digital Device Scheme will ensure that pupils have access to an appropriate digital device that enables a blended learning approach to flourish, providing engaging, interactive, and stimulating learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. By ensuring pupils have access to their own device, Danes Hill can provide a seamless learning experience that promotes and develops the 21st-century skills that children need.

The programme is being rolled out gradually, with plans to have every child from Year 5 upwards equipped with a 1-to-1 laptop by the end of the 2024/25 school year. The devices will stay with the pupils until the end of their time at Danes Hill.

Parents can choose to rent or purchase a Surface Go 2 Laptop through Danes Hill’s partner, Easy4U. The type of device was a key part of the decision-making process, and with the Surface Go 2 Laptop, Danes Hill feels it has struck the correct balance between being robust and having all the key features to enhance learning.

The 1-to-1 Digital Device Scheme will allow for greater flexibility and innovation in the curriculum, and a great deal of research and planning has been undertaken with input from teachers, governors, and other independent schools that have already undertaken similar schemes.

Danes Hill is committed to providing a caring, stimulating environment in which children’s individual needs can be met and their talents, confidence, and self-esteem developed. The 1-to-1 Digital Device Scheme is a vital component in achieving this aim, and the school looks forward to working in partnership with parents as it embarks on this journey.

For more information on the 1-to-1 Digital Device Scheme, please visit the Danes Hill website or attend the parent meeting on Tuesday 16 May at 6:00 pm. Parents can confirm their attendance using the form available on the website. The meeting will include a presentation and an induction to Easy4U, as well as an opportunity for questions.

Danes Hill is excited to embark on this journey towards a digital future, and looks forward to the many benefits the 1-to-1 Digital Device Scheme will bring to its pupils.
