Outdoor learning inspires our children to embrace the natural environment, ignites their curiosity and allows them the freedom to explore. Our Eco-Committee meet weekly to address a variety of topics and take part in all sorts of activities. Mrs Miller is working hard with the three groups, Lower, Middle and Upper School to prepare the garden for spring! They have been clearing the weeds which have gathered through the summer holidays and the Autumn Term and will soon begin to plant fresh seed for the spring.
Today the Lower School Eco-Committee completed some fantastic work in their garden area and were very excited to find a little carrot, which despite the cold weather, had managed to grow in the corner of the garden patch. They were over the moon to have found a vegetable that had grown in our school garden and Mrs Miller reminded them that as of the Spring Term there would be a wealth of newly grown vegetables! The Year 2 children noticed how this little carrot had grown all by itself with the rain water and sunshine it had received after the last few months, they promised Mrs Miller they would nurture their produce once it was planted and work hard to produce a whole bunch of carrots!
