Fire Engine Visits Bevendean

12th October 2021

The Transition children got a very exciting visit from some special guests! The local fire brigade came to see the children to bring their classroom topic to life.

Each child got to try out the hose, dowsing an imaginary fire on the Pirate Ship. The children explored the fire engine and were taught about some of the important equipment the firemen use in certain situations. Back in the classroom the children completed a question and answer session with the fire team and had a look at their uniform, learning that their coat is as thick as 10 jumpers and their boots have steel toe caps so their feet are protected from any falling objects. The children asked whether the fireman helped cats and dogs and how much water they could transport in their fire engine. They had an amazing morning learning about the fire service and all they do to help our community.
