Sonia Delaunay inspired paintings

26th May 2021

This afternoon, the Year 8 children were working hard on their beautiful colourful paintings. Their work was inspired by the incredible artist, Sonia Delaunay, a French Artist. She co-founded the Orphism art movement noted for its use of strong colours and geometric shapes with her husband Robert Delaunay. She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964. Her work is a wonderful display of shapes in vibrant colours, notably lines and circles. The children have created their own Sonia inspired paintings and this week have been filling in their design with amazing yellow, red and blue paints.
