This afternoon in their science lesson, the Year 7 pupils delved into the world of microscopes! After learning the parts of the microscope, their function, and how to set them up, the children had an exciting experiment. They peeled off a thin layer of onion, a very tricky procedure, which requires focus and control. After successfully peeling the later the class placed the onion epidermis carefully on to the glass slide and covered with the cover slip and finally stained the layer of onion with food colouring. The Year 7 children were amazed by what they could see when they took a look through the microscope!
