World War II Discoveries

4th November 2020

In their History lessons over the past week, the Year 6 children have been invited to do a presentation on either a member of their family’s experience of WWII or an aspect of the war that particularly interests them. After being sent away to ask their family and friends and to research on the internet and books, the children discovered some amazing stories which they have presented to their class. In their history lesson today, L Kirwan presented his story about his great grandfather, who he was named after! Mr Kirwan was in the merchant navy in the Second World War. He was on convoys to American, Africa, Italy and USSR, these convoys were attacked sometimes by the Nazis. L Kirwan received medals of honor which were shown to his class. Well done to all those who presented in their history classes.
