Danes Hill Gymnastics: precision and strength!

2nd October 2020

This week Year 4 and Year 5 children enjoyed their weekly gymnastics conditioning training with Mrs Hitchcock. At the beginning, they took part in an intense warm up, ensuring all of the joints are mobilised, the body is warm and their muscles are awake! This term Mrs Hitchcock is focusing on core stability, an important aspect of gymnastics, this stability gives gymnasts the ability to perform movements with strength and accuracy. After their warm up and strengthening exercises, the children worked on their rolls, bends and inversions. Inversions are handstands and headstands, movements that rely heavily on balance. The children performed some amazing handstands and Mrs Hitchcock was very impressed with their progress. The Lower and Upper School are also enjoying their weekly gymnastic activities and working on the condition and precision of their movements.
