On Wednesday 30 September the Year 8 school council members were lucky enough to enjoy a live virtual workshop from the Houses of Parliament. They were given an overview of how parliament is set up and the differences between the House of Commons and the House of Lords. This was an interactive event and the students were able to communicate directly with two of the education leaders at the Houses of Parliament; asking questions and discussing their own ideas on laws and who they would promote to the House of Lords. The students were able to learn a lot about how democracy is run and who has the power to change things. It was a brilliant event that will hopefully inspire our school council representatives to pursue their ideas for change.
