Mrs Keat’s Sweet Treats

22nd September 2020

A Year 8 English class put their descriptive writing skills to the test this afternoon. They had to write a descriptive passage about a sweet, whichever piece made Mrs Keat’s mouth water the most, won! The children all wrote some amazing pieces and managed to use writing techniques they had learnt in their English lessons. The Year 8 pupils were asked to focus on what they could see, feel and touch, then smell, taste and hear. They were inspired by Roald Dahl’s descriptive writing from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the imagery in Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games. L Basing wrote a fantastic piece of writing and won Mrs Keat’s sweetie prize! His description of a delicious Werther’s Original sweet, took us on a tasty journey. The class were in the library this afternoon selecting a new weekly reading book, Mrs Keat reminded them, the more they read, the more their writing skills will improve!
