Danes Hill helps the NHS

17th April 2020

Last week Danes Hill key worker children were busy at school constructing face shields for the local doctors surgery. The shields were gratefully received and the children were delighted to receive a letter back from one of the surgeries and some photos!

Dear Danes Hill,

A big, big THANK YOU from all the staff at Eastwick Park Medical Practice for the splendid face shields you have lovingly made for us.

They are sturdy and comfortable, especially for staff who wear glasses.

Before we had your face shields, we only had goggles available to us. There are long delays on the delivery of face shields from online suppliers too.

Getting enough protective equipment has been a big worry for us. This is especially important now that the Hot Hubs are open: these are places where people with confirmed or suspected Covid get seen by GPs, to decide if they are well enough to stay home, or have to go to hospital or if they need a different kind of treatment.

Our nurses have been wearing them at the surgery to do their essential work, such as immunising babies and vital blood test monitoring for people who are on certain medications. Some important appointments just cannot wait and cannot be done over the phone!

Stay safe and have lots of lockdown fun.

From everyone at Eastwick Park
