On Friday 13 March, the U13 girls hockey team travelled to Woking for the regional finals of the In2 Hockey Championships.
With games being just 13 minutes 1-way, the girls knew there would be no margin for error in any game if they were to be successful.
In a tough pool, they started against the reigning National Champions from Wednesday; Kingston Grammar. In a brilliant game with chances at both ends, it somehow ended 0-0. We followed this up with consecutive 2-0 wins before a huge 2 hour gap before our final group game which we won 5-1.
With the crossovers in the cup competition being organised in a different format, it was unfortunate that the draw led to the girls facing St Georges and Surbiton High drawing Kingston Grammar in the Quarter-Final stage.
St Georges played a great 13 minutes of hockey, minimising our opportunities to go forward and won the game 2-0 and eventually won the competition.
In what was then the last game of hockey for Danes Hill for the Year 8 pupils within the team, the girls put in a brilliant performance to comfortably beat Oratory in the playoff match.
The girls were fantastic throughout the whole competition, conceding just 3 goals throughout the day; well done!
