On Friday 11 October the U11s had an early start to compete in the IAPS hockey regional competition. With 24 teams entered and only 3 schools going through to the National finals, it was always going to be a challenge.
The squad showed excellent team work, coming top of their group by winning 4 matches and drawing 1. The results were as followed:
Verses Forest Prep Won 2-0
Verses Ashfold Won 2-0
Verses St Piran’s drew 1-1
Verses Belmont Mill won 5-0
Verses York House won 2-0
In the quarter finals, the determined Danes Hill team played against Highgate which they managed to win 3-0. The semi-final against Heath Mount was tough, but the final score was 1-0 to Danes Hill. The girls were then ready for the final, against Daneshill Prep school, Hampshire!
After a nail biting final going to golden goal due to K. Johnson’s goal in the last 30 seconds, S James hit the winning goal in on the buzzer making the U11s winners of the regional tournament. The squad now have to prepare for the national finals tournament which is being back at Haileybury College in November.
Well done to everyone who played, especially A Bednall for receiving player of the tournament!
