On Saturday, the Girls U13A Hockey Team travelled to Priors Field for their first tournament of the year. In hot conditions and with an early start, the girls faced a difficult 6 games in a 7-team Round-Robin Competition.
In the very first game of the tournament, the girls played brilliantly and beat Feltonfleet 2-0. After a short break, the girls then repeated the score-line against Tormead.
In their toughest challenge of the day, the girls faced a strong Surbiton High team before immediately facing the hosts, Priors Field in a double header. The girls raised their game against Surbiton and some quality hockey from both sides ended in a 1-1 draw. With less than 60 seconds to turn around and face the hosts, the girls carried their momentum into the match to score 4 unanswered goals.
In their penultimate game of the day, a 4-0 win against Notre Dame set up a final match against a well organised Westbourne side. The girls applied pressure throughout the whole match but were unable to find a breakthrough. With the final whistle going, Danes Hill had earned an overtime penalty corner and a brilliant strike sealed the 1-0 victory and the tournament win.
Congratulations to all of the girls involved on a brilliant performance throughout the day!
