On Tuesday, the Girls U11B Hockey team travelled to Woking Hockey Club for the Surrey Plate Competition.
With 10 teams competing, Danes Hill faced a tough 4 pool matches to start the day.
A disciplined 1-0 win against Wimbledon was followed by a brilliant 3-1 win against St Teresas. A well battled 1-1 draw with Christ Church followed soon after, leaving Danes Hill chasing a win in their final game to top the group. A fantastic 3-0 win against Streatham & Clapham meant that Danes Hill qualified for the final four as top of the group where they faced St Georges in the semi-final.
After a brilliant display at both ends of the field, the game ended 0-0 and went to penalties. 3 fantastic saves from N Cowan took us to Sudden Death where, unfortunately for the girls, St Georges scored to reach the final.
In the 3rd Place Playoff, a tightly fought game against Christ Church again ended in 0-0 and after another tense penalty shoot-out, Danes Hill finished fourth.
Congratulations to all of the girls for going unbeaten in normal time throughout the whole Surrey Competition and showing exemplary behaviour and attitude throughout the day.
