Year 8 Girls Football

12th September 2018

On Thursday 8 December ten Year 8 girls travelled to Feltonfleet for their first football match. Having had a training session prior to the match the girls were confident in their abilities and got stuck in from the very start. It was a very even and competitive match with both teams demonstrating good strength and skill on the ball. A penalty was awarded to Feltonfleet after 10 minutes for a handball in the penalty area. The girls however, kept their heads up and continued to fight hard for possession. At half time some changes in positions were made to allow for all girls to experience both defending and attacking roles. The girls continued to show enthusiasm and determination in the second half with a number of shots made at goal. Danes Hill unfortunately conceded another penalty however a magnificent save was made by O Vesely to keep Danes Hill in the game. With 5 minutes to go Danes Hill looked threatening but Feltonfleet caught the girls unaware with a lob shot at goal resulting in a 2-0 loss. The girls should be proud of their efforts for their first game. Very well done!
