It was a day to remember for Danes Hills U12 boys skiers at the weekend as they travelled to the National finals of the ESSKIA Skiing Championships in Norwich.
Having coasted to the finals, the boys, who were joined at the event by the U14 girls team, were determined to secure top spot. Each of the team held their nerve to complete two impressive runs of the course and helped to clinch the gold medal. Congratulations go to the victorious quartet of J Weeks, M Gillett, H Grace and L Jovanovich.
Meanwhile, the girls team of J Walsh, R Jovanovich, L Larsen and captain O Vesely delivered a very brave performance against a most competitive field. Unfortunately the girls finished in 4th place, just outside the medal positions but they can be very proud of their performance.
It was a very successful outing for the both teams but they will not be resting on their laurels, as preparations now begin in earnest for the Surrey Championships and IAPS event in the New Year.
