The 1st XI football team travelled to Colliers Wood Football Club, to play Shrewsbury House, in the Surrey Prep School Cup Final. The boys have enjoyed a fantastic season, gelling quickly, allowing them to play some exciting and eye-catching football. The final was a tough affair with both teams having opportunities in the first 5-10 minutes. Shrewsbury House took the lead through a very good individual run and finish. This seemed to shock Danes Hill into playing and they found another gear, scoring 2 team goals through Hugo and Magnus. They scored a 3rd before half time via Shrewsbury House dominated the opening 10 minutes of the second half, scoring a second via an own goal. Again, Danes Hill upped their games with Hugo scoring two more goals to complete his hattrick. The first was a volley from outside the box and the second a well-placed free kick. The boys then maintain possession in the final stages to run out 5-2 winners.
We are immensely proud of the boys who achieved our main goal that we set at the beginning of the season. I wish all the Year 8s the very best with their future football and Im really excited to be working with the Year 7s again next year. Well done boys!
