First Place at the U10 St Teresa’s Hockey Tournament

12th September 2018

On Saturday 23 September the U10A and U10B hockey teams took part in their first tournament of the season at St Teresa’s School. The A team started with a 6-0 win over St Teresa’s with goals coming from Ciara Moore and Isla Gemmell. They continued their goal streak when up against Downsend, with more goals from Ciara Moore, Xanthe Radloff and Jessica Thompson. They then had an exciting and tight game against St George’s where the Danes Hill defence showed real grit and determination with a fantastic save from Goalkeeper Estelle Berbner and an impressive tackle by Libby Taylor in the dying seconds of the match to end the game in a 0-0 draw. This resulted in the girls coming 1st place overall. A huge well done to all the team and we look forward to a fun and successful season ahead of us.

The B hockey team were also equally most impressive throughout the morning. They showed real teamwork and determination and achieved great results. They won 1-0 against St Teresa’s, drew 1-1 against St Georges, won 1-0 against St Catherine’s and drew 0-0 against Manor House. These scores resulted in the girls coming 2nd overall, but only on goal difference. We are extremely proud of the girls and what a superb morning of hockey!
