On Saturday the 1st and 2nd teams took part in the annual Danes Hill Hockey tournament. This year we had the largest number of entries with 13 teams competing.
The 1st team continue to go from strength to strength and we are so please to see how well they are playing as a team so early into the season. The girls achieved comfortable wins against Downsend, Hawthorns, feltonfleet and Edegborough, with some superb goals scored. They also had an extremely close fought battle with St Georges with both defences playing superbly, ending in a 0-0 draw. The team were unfortunate to lose against the eventual winners, Cranleigh who did score some fantastic goals against us. Overall the girls finished in a very commendable 3rd place, with lots of positives to take away from the tournament.
The 2nd team played some great team hockey, working on skills that they have been developing in training. The girls were unfortunate to score even though they maintained possession in their half for the majority of the time. They drew matches against Cranleigh and Hawthorns and lost narrowingly to St George’s and Feltonfleet. The girls finished in 4th place overall. Well played to everyone involved in this tournament!
