After training hard and gaining a good win at Downsend in a training match, the 1st  hockey team were excited to take on the rest of the surrey schools at Cranleigh. After a nervy start in the first pool match, where we dominated the possession but had few scoring opportunities the team dug deep and demonstrated a fantastic determination and desire to win, beating Sir William Perkins’s 1.0. This attitude continued through to the rest of the pool games with the team gaining wins over Downsend and Prior’s Field and losing 3.1 in a very tight game against St George’s.  The team were then drawn against Cranleigh for their semi-final. The girls played exceptionally well, demonstrating fantastic skill and commitment against a team who had beaten us convincingly in a previous friendly. At half time the score was 0-0 with Danes Hill drawing great saves from the Cranleigh Goal Keeper. Unfortunately, Cranleigh scored two outstanding goals to beat us leaving us to face St George’s again in the 3rd/4th playoff match.  Danes Hill finishes 4th place overall. We are extremely proud of how far the girls have progressed this year. Their commitment to hockey has been outstanding and they have been a joy to coach. Well played girls.
