Students in Year 1 got in touch with their cultural sides last week as they visited the world famous National Gallery in London.

The pupils have been focusing on water colours in class recently, so it was fitting to go and see paintings from the likes of Monet, Turner and Beucelaer to see how the experts do it! One painting in particular stood out for the young art enthusiasts, namely Marquise de Seignelay and Two of her Sons by Pierre Mignard, in which the marquise is shown as the marine deity Thetis and the elder child as Achilles, son of Thetis.

This was a hugely worthwhile visit for the students and one they can take a lot from for their future studies.
