Danes Hill held its ninth annual Grandparents” Day last week as the pupils grandparents were invited into school to help celebrate the Queens 90th birthday, whilst being given a glimpse into their grandchildrens daily school lives.
We were blessed with glorious weather as the whole school entertained its visitors. Grandparents of the children in Bevendean were treated to a delightful performance from all the pupils, followed by a visit to their classrooms. Meanwhile, grandparents were also invited to the Main School for a Lower School performance, followed by a tour of the school and refreshments on the Headmasters Terrace. Finally, those grandparents with children in the Middle and Upper School attended an assembly in the Ark by 5FER followed by some musical pieces and LAMDA performances.
With it being Her Majestys landmark birthday, the school was bathed in a sea of red, white and blue. The catering staff did a superb job in sticking to the theme with delicious Pimms being served alongside mini-cakes, decorated with 90th birthday crowns.
Grandparents had travelled from far and wide to attend the event, with some coming from India, Morocco and Australia! It was certainly the busiest Grandparents” Day the school has held with over 650 grandparents in attendance. As always, we are exceptionally grateful to our guests for attending and we hope they had a wonderful day. We look forward to seeing them all again next year.
