Last Friday, children in Year 8 gave a very warm welcome to man of many talents, Andy Craven-Griffiths.
There really is no end to Andys talents. Currently, he is one of Radio 3s Verb New Voices, is Lead Writer on various childrens writing projects, is one of Curve Theatres WritersLab writers, is part of the Midnight Run team (themnr.com) and is working part time on a PhD in Creative Writing. As if that was not enough, Andy is also lead singer of his band Middleman.
Given this, it was certainly a privilege for the Danes Hill pupils to spend some time with Andy. Over 20,000 young people have benefitted from Andys writing and performance workshops since he began running them in 2007. Indeed, he was a breath of fresh air after a hard week of sitting mock Common Entrance exams. Andy taught the children how to compose and perform their own unique brand of spoken word poetry and, in so doing, created an inspiring atmosphere where the pupils could let their creative juices flow.
