Last week saw parents join their children after school to celebrate The Big Draw.

The event, which was open to children throughout the main school in Years 2-8, was inspired by the Victorian poet John Ruskin and the world’s largest drawing festival. The Big Draw, which is part of the Campaign for Drawing, was set up in 2000 by a small charity called Guild of St George.

There was a great turnout from the parents as they joined their children at various workstations such as making and laminating bookmarks and creating a large material weaved structure. Some even tried their creative hands at some drawing.

The event was brought to a close in dramatic fashion as the parents and children each let off a balloon containing the school’s contact details and one of the drawings that had been created. Remarkably, on Monday, we received a message from Aimee Owen in Holyhead, Anglesey that she and her dog had discovered one of our balloons!
