Children in Years 2 and 3 brought their skills and passion to the pitches last weekend at the Lower School Chelsea Fun Football Tournament.

The players were split into teams, which this year were named after some of the world’s top club teams, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United. This followed a similar naming convention of countries in 2016 and chocolate bars in 2015! Each team was made up of boys and girls of varying abilities.

Prior to the competition kicking off, all of the players spent half an hour with the wonderful Chelsea coaches and their expertise clearly paid off when the matches began. A huge thank you must go to the Chelsea coaches in attendance, who also refereed the matches.

There was some fantastic football on show and every match was very closely fought, right up until the final. It was just as pleasing to see a large contingent of parental support roaring their children on and giving so generously to the Cherry Trees charity in exchange for some very welcome bacon sandwiches!

Congratulations to all of the children who took part, in particular those below who received a trophy or a medal. In the end, it was the Bayern Munich team who were the overall winners of the event, narrowly overcoming Manchester City in second and Manchester United in third.
