Last weekend saw the Danes Hill community pull together in support of teacher Dan Sutton, who last year suffered a terrible accident when he was hit by a bicycle and is still recovering to this day.

The event which was organised by the Friends of Danes Hill (FODH) was held within the beautiful surroundings of Painshill Park in Cobham, with the focus being a 6km walk around the grounds. Over 500 tickets were sold to staff and Danes Hill families, showing just how popular Dan is with the school community. The total number of attendees was bolstered still further as many children’s usual hockey, netball and Rugby matches were cancelled due to the frosty weather.

As well as the walk, there were plenty of fun activities to keep the children amused, including a Pokémon hunt, welly wanging and goal scoring challenges.

Whilst everyone had a very enjoyable day, the focus was raising funds for Dan’s rehab fund and we are delighted to announce over £5,000 was raised. A huge thank you must go to Painshill Park for hosting the event as well as to everyone who came and made the event such a huge success.
