Mark brings extensive leadership experience from both the military and education sectors. A former major in the British Army, he has worked in independent schools since 1993 and is currently Bursar at The King’s School, Canterbury, having previously held senior roles at Cranbrook School, Bedales Schools and Dulwich Prep School.
Mark has been deeply involved in the wider independent schools sector. Currently he is Chair of the Independent Schools Council (ISC), and he has served on the boards of ISC member associations: ISBA (the Independent Schools’ Bursars Association) and AGBIS (the Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools), both of which he chaired.
Alongside this, Mark is Chair of the East Kent Schools’ Together (EKST) Partnership Finance Committee, a trustee of the Turner Group of schools, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA).
