U13 Surrey Hockey Championships

6th March 2019

On Wednesday 6 March, the U13 Girls Hockey team travelled to Reigate Grammar School for the Surrey Championships.

Danes Hill faced 5 tough games on a cold and windy day in an attempt to qualify for the South Regional Competition.

The team played some disciplined hockey in their opening game, beating Tormead 1-0 after a well worked penalty corner proved the difference. In a tight second game, the girls showed great character to beat St Teresa’s 2-1 after two stunning reverse stick strikes claimed the points. In their final group game, the girls battled for a 0-0 draw against St George’s which qualified them for the Final Four.

In the semi-final match, the girls fought hard but narrowly lost 2-0 to eventual winners Reigate Grammar. After a short break to regroup, they faced St George’s once again but unfortunately lost 4-1 to finish fourth and just miss out on a medal.

The team played brilliantly throughout the day; showing great skill and determination throughout. Congratulations on a brilliant season Girls!
