U13 Girls ISHC National Cup

20th January 2020

On Wednesday 16 January, the Girls 1st Hockey team hosted Loughborough High School in the last-16 round of the ISHC National Cup.

A fantastic win away at St George’s in the last round set the girls up well in the competition and winning their Surrey Championships before Christmas had the girls full of confidence. In spite of this, the Regional Champions from the Midlands started the brightest, scoring an early goal with their very first attack.

With lots of parents, staff and students watching, Danes Hill raised their game with a number of attacks, scoring twice through I Davies and C Moorhead. Just before half-time, Loughborough High scored a breakaway goal to draw level and set up a tense final 20 minutes.

In the second half, Danes Hill continued to dominate possession, creating a number of chances around the circle. The girls worked tirelessly before E Pitts scored from a short corner to restore the lead once again. Shortly after, M Fewings scored an amazing reverse stick goal before L Ingles completed a fantastic solo run and finish securing a brilliant 5-2 win for the girls.

The girls now face an away trip to either Prior’s Field or Leeds Grammar in the Quarter-Finals.Congratulations to the whole squad and thank you to everyone who came to support!
