On Wednesday 11 March, the U11 A team travelled to Aldro Prep School to take part in their annual rugby 7s tournament. Despite the cold and wind, the boys played admirably and fought hard for every try. The first match was against Lanesborough and despite some attempts to hold us back, the game was easily won 25-5.
The next competition was against Hall Grove. Once again the boys were victorious, winning 20-5. The easiest of our draws were against Ludgrove. Defending with intensity and purpose, Danes Hill beat them 25-0. This set the boys up for their final match against our arch-rivals, Shrewsbury House. If Danes Hill won this game, we would be undefeated, and victors in our group. It was a tough start, with neither team gaining a foothold in the match. It seemed as if the game would grind to a disappointing tie BUT the boys managed to break away from their defensive line to score a try and win the match. Due to this victory, we went undefeated and were crowned the overall champions of the tournament. Well played to all the boys that participated, it was a day to remember!
