Victorious at the U11A Danes Hill Hockey Tournament

On Saturday, the U11A Hockey Team took part in the U11 Danes Hill Tournament. With 6 schools having entered, Danes Hill faced a tough 5 games in the round-robin format.

Opening up against Brambletye, Danes Hill opened their accounts early as C Moore scored a great individual goal. Having jumped out to an early lead, the girls played some great hockey, remaining solid in defence to claim the first victory of the day.

Back-to-back games against Holy Cross and Hoe Bridge saw Danes Hill run out 2-0 and 1-0 victors respectively. The team really began to play with intensity across these middle two fixtures as they continued their perfect start to the competition.

With their final two games being played back-to-back, Danes Hill faced a challenging Edgeborough side and played out a thrilling 0-0 draw. Both sides had opportunities in front of goal with some great attacking hockey on show.

With one game to go, Danes Hill faced a tough St George’s side.

Having lost to them in their first fixture of the year, the Danes Hill girls were looking forward to the challenge. A fantastic penalty corner strike from C Moore was cancelled out by a late equaliser as the girls improved once again on their previous performances to claim a well fought and valuable point from their final game to be crowned Champions.

J Thompson was voted Player of the Tournament to round-off a fantastic day for the U11 squad.
