On Saturday 15 June the girls competed in an athletics meet at Tooting Bec Athletics Track. With a selection of athletes from Years 3 to 6. The girls performed extremely well in each of their events and we were able to come back with a great selection of medals.
We had a number of athletes make it through to the finals in their track events including A Stafford, G Staples, I Gilmore, X Radloff, E Guganeswaran and P Arnold-Roberts. Stand out performances came from X Radloff who came 1st in the Year 6 100m, I Gilmore who came 3rd in the Year 5 100m and A Stafford who came 3rd in the Year 3 100m. K Johnson who came 1st in the Year 5 400m, J Thompson who came 2nd in the Year 6 800m and P Arnold-Roberts came 3rd in the Year 5 400m. We also had huge successes in the 800m and the 1200m with M Few and J Thompson both placing 2nd, A Bednall coming in 1st and A Jenkins coming in in 3rd position in the 800m; whilst A Jenkins and I Gilmore both won their 1200m, K Johnson came in 2nd and E Horne came in 4th in the 1200m events. We definitely excelled on the track, but there was also some great performances in the field events with some athletes taking on an event they have never completed before.
Special mention should also be given to A Stafford and E Guganeswaran who raced up a year group in the relay.
All were superb, the Year 6 girls won their age category overall and came away with a trophy. Well done to all the girls that participated you should be really proud of your performance.
