IAPS Athletics

18th June 2019

On Monday 10 June fifty athletes travelled to compete at the 50th London Prep Schools Athletics meet at Thames Valley. As the qualifiers for the Nationals this was an important event the students required to put out their best performances.

The weather was not on our side, the students were incredible in putting up with torrential rain all day. Despite the weather, there were some brilliant performances and everyone that competed should be really proud of their achievements.

The girls qualified for every sprint final in all age groups which was a superb achievement, and we had stand out performances from G Butler in the 100m and X Radloff in the 200m who both qualified for Nationals. In the 800m H Briggs came 2nd in the U14 category, G Nielson put in a solid performance in the U13 category, K Johnson came 3rd in the U11 age group, and J Thompson ran an amazing race qualifying for Nationals in 1st place. In the field events A Jenkins qualified for Nationals in the Long jump and S Wilshin qualified for the shot putt.

The boys had excellent performances in the U13 shot putt where A Washington came second overall, and A Carello also achieved silver in the U14 triple jump. On the track K Osaka made it through the U14 300m final and came 3rd; whilst J Goodall made it through to the 100m and came 6th overall. The stand out performance however for the boys was in the U13 relay where they won Gold making it through to the Nationals, and so praise goes to A Washington, T Weston, L Clayman and J Goodall for this achievement.

In addition to the above G Butler has also been selected for the IAPS Nationals for the hurdles and A Washington for the shot putt.

Another huge well done to all the athletes that competed. We are incredibly proud of all their performances on the day!
