Danes Hill Triathlon

16th May 2019

On Saturday 11 May Danes Hill school hosted its first ever Triathlon! This was carefully set-up on the school site over a number of long hours and comprised of a cycle and run route after each competitor had started the day with their swim. Although the event was timed via electronic timer chips on the wrist of each athlete, the focus was more on a ‘taster’ event in order to spread the excitement of taking part in triathlons, with the hope of many pupils wanting to do more. With some initial cloudy and damp weather pupils can be proud of showing great determination in taking the starting blocks for the first swim stage! Three different age categories were set up, comprising of three different distances. After the swim competitor’s ran to the ‘transition area’ to get their bikes and scooters, before taking to the circuit. The final run stage was tough but all pupils battled through to cross the finish line to receive their well-earned medal!

A special thanks must go out to a number of Danes Hill parents and staff who gave up their weekend time to help marshal the course. We very much hope to make a few adjustments to the event before making it bigger and even better next year. Thanks and a big well done to all competitors!
