Last month, 4 teams from Danes Hill qualified in the regional competition, for the English Schools’ National Dry-slope Ski Championships. This was more teams than any other school in the country! Those who successfully qualified are: A Edgar, P Ford, S Jenkins and E Ochoa in the U12 Girls’ category; H Colenso, O Drake, N Hardy and W Wagnert in the U12 Boys’; L Bailey, A Bagshaw, C Edgar and M Guevara-Correa in the U14 Girls’; and L Bailey-Bain, C Jerram, L Jovanovich and M King in the U14 Boys’. The finals took place in Norwich on Saturday, with the skiers all competing hard, nearly all a year or more young for their categories, against strong competition from across England. Notably, the Boys’ Under 12 team did brilliantly to win Bronze, as did L Jovanovich to win the award for fastest boy for his age. Medals and awards were handed out by four-time Olympian, Chemmy Alcott, Britain’s most successful female skier of all time.
