Surrey Cup Final Winners!

26th November 2019

On Saturday, Danes Hill 1st XI football team played Cranleigh in the Surrey Cup Final. Both teams deserved to be in the final and got the ball down, passing quickly. Our high pressure game caused panic in the final third with are centre midfielders making lots of interceptions. However, we could not convert this pressure into goals, despite creating plenty of chances. The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when Lawrence Way hit a 30 yard free kick into the roof of the net. Danes Hill continued to dominate the game and added a second shortly after half time, via are captain, N Kemp-Pedersen, striking the ball into the top corner from outside the box. Cranleigh pushed hard in the final 10 minutes, going very direct with their goal kicks, scoring with 3 minutes to go. This set up a tense final period but thanks to some great defensive efforts by C Whitwam and J Steele, Danes Hill held on to win the Surrey Cup. This is an amazing achievement for this group of boys, who have worked diligently throughout the football season.

Good luck in your ISFA National Cup 4th round match on Thursday 5th December, away at Aldenham.
