Each week Bevendean children visit the paddock for a morning of exploring, activities and fun! This week, due to the windy weather, the Transition classes spent time in the Main School playground and woodland area to enjoy their outdoor learning time. On arrival, the children were very excited to explore the playground before starting their morning activity. In pairs, they were tasked to find shapes in the natural environment, with their chart of shapes in hand, they explored the woods in search of objects. They found squares in the fencing, circles in the trees and even a star on the blazer of a Year 4 child!
During snack time, Mrs Rymer read a popular story the children, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The children then had the opportunity to experience their very own ‘bear hunt’, aiming to find a little teddy bear hiding in the bushes. Echoing the book, the children replicated each stage of the journey including through the ‘long wavy grass’ and the ‘deep cold river’ and the ‘swirling whirling snowstorm’ to discover where the little bear was hiding. The children had a wonderful morning and were excited to see the Middle School children arrive for their breaktime and to be accompanied by Bella the Bevendean Beagle throughout the morning.
