Year 4 Chinese Day

13th August 2018

Year 4 began Chinese New Year celebrations early on Tuesday 13 February, and enjoyed a fun-filled Chinese Day. This included workshops with traditional Chinese dancing, dumpling making, calligraphy, playing instruments, and building lanterns. All of the children and staff were also treated to delicious Chinese cuisine at lunchtime.

This year, beginning on Friday 16 February, is the year of the Dog, which holds the eleventh position in the Chinese zodiac. Chinese New Year traditions include a family reunion dinner on New Year’s Eve, before which families stay awake until fireworks at midnight. These fireworks are thought to fend off evil.

It was wonderful to see China come to life at Danes Hill this week through all the fabulous activities. Special thanks to Mrs Lim and her amazing team of helpers, who were imperative to this magical day of eastern delight.

Happy Chinese New Year to you all!
